Living on Borrowed Time

You must have shadow and light source both.
Listen, and lay your head under the tree of awe.
~ Rumi

In a recent blog, I shared the deep emotions I have been experiencing around this third third of my life.

Readers of Yellow Brick Road know I am actively processing the undeniability of our impermanence. (See Still Waters.) Before Stacey arrived, I choked back tears telling her dad, “It feels like time is just rushing by and no matter how much time we might have left with her, most of our time with her is already gone. I don’t want to waste a single moment.”

Having read the blog, a dear friend expressed concern, “I know you had a melanoma removed this spring. Are you OK?”

I notice that I have started answering that question a bit differently. I most often hear myself saying something like, “To the best of my ability to know, I believe I am well.” Not meaning to be morbid, but we are all living on borrowed time.

When we were training SCS/NLP, energy (Healing Touch) and language (Neurolinguistic Programming) merged seamlessly. Joel and I were trying to remember the foundation for our training in higher sense perception. Not everyone perceives the energy in the same way. We encouraged students to become aware of the information received through the “inner senses.” Notice what you see, hear, feel, and just know. Doing this, you learn quickly to let the energy become your principle teacher.

I remember well the first time Joel had an experience of “THE ENERGY.” He was on the table, and a colleague and I were working on him. He suddenly sat up and burst out with, “The energy is intelligent!”

At just the same moment all three of us heard, “Well, what did you expect?” We all laughed!

Another time, Joel mentioned his guide, Helm. One of the students asked, “Who is Helm?” Joel began to explain Helm as a dead person.

Joel and I both heard Helm say, “I am not dead.”

A friend began having some very unusual symptoms at church. I put my hands in her energy field and asked, “Do you know what Bell’s Palsy is?” She did; her uncle had had it. She went to the emergency room where it was confirmed she had Bell’s Palsy. I had never heard of it.

Recently I began a two-year commitment to a study with Barbara Brodsky called the “Dharma Path.” At this same time, I am also going through the work of Loch Kelly in Shift into Freedom. I wrote more about both of these in a blog titled, Commitment to Joy in Trying Times. Once again, we are being invited to expand awareness further, this time even beyond our “inner senses.”

Living on borrowed time is just a fact. We are not promised tomorrow. We are not even promised one more moment. It becomes vital to be present to each second. I asked Joel if writing his political blog posts helps him feel empowered. He said it does because he uses his gift of articulating the written word. Notice what allows you to know you are empowered.

A video of a cat watching a video of the cat’s owner (who had died) should, as our Webmaster says, come with a tissue alert. Life, including life with our pets, is so filled with radiant love, the joy can feel painful.

Our hearts are breaking open to higher sense perceptions.

As Rumi says:

Be the soul, see only soul, live like a soul, love only soul
I love you, you love me
I in you, you in me
My soul you, your soul me
My heart sweet, your heart sweet
O my beloved, come love me
The body dies one day taking away mind and heart with it, the soul is eternal it is neither born nor dies

Pay attention to what you see, hear, feel, and just know that proves to you beyond a doubt there is more to this sacred borrowed time we are all living on than meets the eye.
