Debra’s Wellness Tips
An article in HealthCurrents Fall 2019 titled “Why Do I Eat?” offers some very easy telling points to curbing emotional eating habits.
Physical hunger builds gradually, occurs several hours after a meal, goes away when full, changes to a feeling of satisfaction and is resolved by eating.
Emotional hunger develops suddenly, strikes above the neck, can occur even if you just ate, persists despite fullness, is not resolved by eating and results in feelings of guilt after eating.
This week, let yourself notice with nonjudgment so you can be sure you are taking time to attend to your emotional needs. Plan some self nuture like a walk in nature, a soaking bath, a massage, a pedicure, or a short nap. Breathe into what you are feeling. Ask yourself what you are really hungry for.
