Every year about this time, I remind readers of the importance of being “tick savvy” as you begin enjoying more time out-of-doors. Last year, in Get Outside, I shared a blend of natural ingredients that make a great repellent if you prefer to not use so many chemicals.
The year prior, readers learned that Neem spray is a safe way to repel fleas, ticks, ants, and mosquitoes.
You can be smart! For years, I have chosen to wear white or light clothing, and to tuck the legs of my pants into my socks. Now the market has tick-repellent clothing! The University of Rhode Island Tick Encounter Resource Center has a lot of information about this option. If you are interested, check it out.
This week, remember to use the helpful information you have encountered in the past. Thankfully, we have access to a lot of really good stuff. Now, get outside and have a safe and healthy and fun summer!
