As those in the Northern hemisphere begin to experience a bit more sun, it is a good time to think about proper sunglasses.
More than looks goes into a wise selection.
Choose sunglasses which block 100 percent of ultraviolet rays. Polarized lenses prevent glare, but they do not block UV rays. Those that do will usually have a tag or sticker to indicate that level of protection.
For better protection, choose a larger sized pair.
Darker is not always better.
Choose a tint that reduces brightness and glare. Gray tends to allow your eyes to “see” true colors. This makes gray an appropriate choice for driving, and for outdoor sports.
If you will be in low-light conditions, or driving in haze or fog, consider orange or yellow tint.
Lots of brands exist. Ray-Ban, Oakley, Chanel, and Prada are all made by the same company. Maui Jim came up a lot!

This week, give your sunglasses selection some thought. In the meantime, also notice where you are looking through rose-colored glasses. Not everything that glitters is gold.
