She preferred going to confession out-of-town. Something felt much safer to her not being known by the priest hearing her tell of her inner worries, wounds, and wonderings.

The priest suggested she buy a special kind of stone—one that had a rough side and a polished side. He said that stone was to remind her that difficult times are just the polishing process.

She fished around in her purse to produce a key chain she had bought two weeks prior:
