Pathways to Healing

What if things getting better is much easier than we might have dreamed possible? What would encourage you to explore possibilities? While there is no “right” thing for everyone, and it makes more sense to pay attention to what is working, I was very encouraged by benefits from acupuncture, yoga, and guided imagery reported in the “Pathways to Healing” article by Elaine Zablocki in the December 2013 edition of Townsend Letter: The Examiner of Alternative Medicine.

The article reports a recent study done with returning active duty Marines with PTSD, where the soldiers who received the complementary therapies (guided imagery and healing touch) reported a significant improvement (scores for PTSD symptoms decreased substantially, about 14 points). There was not just statistically significant improvement: the symptoms decreased to below the clinical cutoffs for PTSD!

If you are new to Debra’s Tips for Well-being, you might not know my own story of Freedom from Pain. It is amazing that I was able to regain total quality of life, but it is best if you don’t take my word for it. Just like those Marines, you, too, can discover new pathways to healing.

This week, explore your options. If you are curious and would like some encouragement, let me know. Nothing means more to you than sharing what you learned with others who can benefit, too.
