Debra’s Wellness Tips
I love yoga. I am not alone.
Yoga poses can address specific situations, like depression.
Ideal to eliminate depression are yoga poses that help to expand and open your rib cage. Using appropriate props enables you to rest and relax in the pose as you focus on your breath.
How: Lie on your back with your legs extended out flat on the floor and your feet and knees pointing straight up. Prop yourself up onto your forearms and lift your chest. Place a block at its medium setting just under the bottom of your shoulder blades and at the center of your back. Set another block at its medium height underneath the back of your head at the base of your skull. Relax your arms by your sides with your palms facing up so your shoulders open.
The Best Yoga Poses to Beat Depression
Focusing on the inhalation lessens depression, and focus on the exhalation to lower anxiety.
Stay in a supported backbend, such as Heart Bench, as long as you can maintain good form and it feels comfortable.
This week, bring your awareness to your breath. Add the practice of yoga if you are ready to do that. Be sure to pay attention to those things that help you physically and emotionally.
