Mitch Plotnick, Certified holistic health counselor, and author of, “Good Better Best: Simple Ways to Improve Your Nutrition, Health and Life,” writes in the article “Thirty Minutes for Better Health,” these four elements to help you be successful in your enjoying a healthy life-style:
• A realistic goal.
• A true intention to improve.
• A game plan for success.
• The right tools.
He says it all starts with a realistic goal to avoid getting discouraged and giving up. We do recognize that success happens in small steps over time. It is interesting that this is not only true about physical goals—such as you’re doing the things (good food, regular exercise, mindfulness practice) to maintain or regain a healthy weight—but in other areas of your life as well.
Think about your work, career, or what is sometimes called your personal mission or life purpose. It would be very enlightening for you to take a few moments and write down these four keys in that area. One exercise I have played is, “If everything was possible and time and money were no object, what would I be or do or have that has not been my experience currently?”
The theme of this discovery is often a type of service to family, friends, community, or planet. It will be something you love to do, and something that gives you joy, possibly simple, like reading books to a child, or complex, like inventing something or manifesting that idea into reality. It may be something you need training for or something you already do very well.
This week, be aware of the gift you are in the world and hold in mind the importance that you have a realistic goal, a true intention, a plan and the right tools for success. In the same way that an unopened gift is worthless, your optimal well-being (and your service to the world) is a valuable contribution to more than just yourself.
