The facet of meditative awareness (Dorothy Ann Coyne’s BRFWA) we will focus on this week is the how the body is always able to feel. We can in the present moment mentally do a body scan, sweeping our awareness from head to feet and back again. Just noticing any tension, noting any emotions, and paying attention to how it is with us physically relieves the mental stress of wanting things to be different.
If you would appreciate an audio guide to this practice, an internet search will yield many results such as “Body Scan”.
The components that are most valuable in this step are awareness of body and awareness of feelings (including sensations and emotions). Other descriptive terms you may encounter include progressive relaxation, mind-body awareness, full-body breath awareness, and biofeedback. For the time being, as you practice, you will release the need to fix or change anything. You are learning to just notice.
My guided imagery “Freedom from Pain” audio contains two wonderful guided techniques for helping you develop the ability to feel: Etheric Vitality Plus and Self Full Body Connection. That audio is available for purchase online at several distributors, including Amazon.com at Freedom from Pain.
This week FEEL. At every moment, where ever you are, whatever you are doing, your body is right there. Give it your loving attention.
