Having a diagnosis of diabetes is no sweet news, if you will pardon the pun. However, like everything in life, you can let it get the best of you, or you can make the best of it.
Learn how to enjoy a balanced plate, eat regular meals, get plenty of rest, exercise, and avoid lows as well as highs. This is the name of the game and there is plenty of help available. If you are in need of comprehensive understanding, visit American Diabetes Association.
Check online for meal plans such as “Diabetic Living Online”.
Nutrients recommended for each meal, such as delicious chicken salad wraps, are as follows:
Carbohydrate: 60-80 grams (40-50 percent of calories)*
Protein: 30-40 grams (20-25 percent of calories)
Fat: 20-30 grams (30-40 percent of calories)
Like everything else worth doing, making a healthy lifestyle with diabetes takes a little time and attention. Don’t try to change too much. Start small and keep at it. This is a benefit for the rest of your life.
This week, make sure you learn more about what matters most to your health right now. And when you find tips that are truly helpful, share them!
