Your Destiny


Watch your thoughts, for they become words.
Watch your words, for they become actions.
Watch your actions, for they become habits.
Watch your habits, for they become character.
Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.

The author for this quotation is unknown. However, it is known that this is a perfect time to set some good intentions for improving and enjoying your life. Intentions have to do with words, actions, habits, character, and destiny. Working with intentions means becoming aware of your moods, beliefs, wants and wishes, and your habitual mental states.

Without awareness, habits continue to drive behaviors, often getting in the way of meaningful goals. Intentions can combine your emotions (wants and wishes) with your actions (planning and commitment) and assist you in keeping the promises you make to yourself.

One easy way to work with intentions is to ask yourself what you are feeling now about a specific hope or a yet-to-be-realized dream for your life or your world.

Ask yourself what you would prefer to be feeling about the situation or opportunity.

Notice what you are willing to do to enable yourself to have that.

For example, you might have been feeling frustrated about your current weight and now you want to enjoy a more ideal weight. Your positive intention will include specific actions you can take such as join a gym, start a walking practice, and/or adopt an organized healthy eating plan.

This week, honor your process by getting some clear intentions. Your destiny is calling….
