Brush!

Debra’s Wellness Tips

Every visit to have my teeth cleaned comes with the question from the hygienist, “Are you using an electric toothbrush?”

It is obviously now thought that an electric toothbrush is better than a manual brush.

According to Consumer Reports: Electric Toothbrush vs Manual, that may or may not be true.

Whichever toothbrush you decide to use, don’t get carried away with brushing. “Excessive brushing with manual or electric has its risks,” Friedman says. “Too much pressure and too frequent brushing can abrade enamel, or the root if the gum has receded.” This abrasion, he says, can cause teeth to become hypersensitive to hot and/or cold.

One point made in the article is how someone with limited dexterity might really find an electric tooth brush much easier.

This week, pay attention to what works best for you in each situation. One-size-fits-all is obviously not true about pantyhose or tooth brushes, and may not be true about anything!
