I couldn’t find the version I learned in childhood, but all the versions I saw online are highly similar. The main point is that death is the great equalizer. Everyone eventually ends up dead. One of the principal ideas is that television is “entertainment,” even when the subject is serious. The “news” becomes just another “show.”
