Benefits of Spicy Foods

All those spices and herbs in your spice rack
can do more than provide calorie-free,
natural flavorings to enhance and make food delicious.
They’re also an incredible source of antioxidants
and help rev up your metabolism
and improve your health at the same time.
~ Suzanne Somers

Mercola.com reports TIME magazine featured these three truly great reasons to enjoy more spicy foods:

Appetite and Weight Control—The heat in spicy foods might help fight obesity. Thermogenic (hot) ingredients can boost metabolism, increase fat burning ability, and may even keep your fat-burning going during weight loss. This is very significant because weight loss can decrease the metabolism.

Healthy Sex Life—Ginseng and saffron have proven aphrodisiac properties. Scientists have found that these two natural substances improve sexual function and libido more than chocolate!

Tumor Prevention—Capsaicin (an active component of chili peppers) brings both anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties to the table. It has been shown to suppress prostate cancer cells (while leaving normal cells unharmed). Cancer cells in mice were killed, and tumors shrunk.

This week, be intentional to put more spice in your life. While you are doing that, add in some extra humor, pleasure, solitude, and relaxation.
