Perhaps acupuncture is something you have already experienced. You may recognize that it is a significant therapy for keeping you well or treating many physical, emotional, and mental problems. Maybe you have heard about it, know others who have received treatments, but have not yet had the benefits yourself. Either way, you probably owe it to yourself to know more as current findings show benefits for many conditions, including diminished allergy symptoms and relief of chronic pain.
In a study published in the Archives of Internal Medicine, researchers led by Andrew Vickers, an epidemiologist and biostatistician at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, report that acupuncture is effective in reducing people’s chronic pain — more so than standard pain treatment and slightly better than using sham needles, suggesting that the benefits of real acupuncture are due to something more than the placebo effect.
Acupuncture May Offer Real Relief for Chronic Pain, by Alice Park.
One study involved people who suffered symptoms of nasal allergies, and tested positive for pollen allergies. The group that received acupuncture had improvement in symptoms and required less use of antihistamines.
Melinda Beck, of the Wall Street Journal, in a video interview says that acupuncture has, “Demonstrable effects on the body, the brain, on the blood vessels,” and, it is like “Rebooting the nervous system,” and is, “Very relaxing.” Here is a video of Melinda receiving acupuncture.
This week, if you are already familiar with the benefits of acupuncture, share your experience with others. If you have not yet experienced the benefits yourself, you might ask want to ask around or look in the phone book to find a good acupuncturist.
