Neem

Neem tree

Neem, a tree native to India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, also called Indian Lilac, has a handy list of uses including:

  • bloody noses
  • upset stomach
  • heart disease
  • fever
  • diabetes
  • liver problems
  • intestinal worms
  • gum disease

It is wonderful that humans have been aware of the benefits of natural substances. Neem is one of those. Skin disorders have been treated with neem for thousands of years in Ayurvedic medicine. You may agree that when something has been valued by knowledgeable people for so long, there must be a good reason for it.

Neem soap and shampoo are among the most popular neem products and neem skin care products have shown to have many benefits:

  • relieve redness and itching of irritated skin
  • lighten scars and pigmentation
  • soothe and moisturize dry and cracked skin
  • cure skin infection, fungus or parasites

In the Northern hemisphere, as the weather starts warming up and you enjoy spending more time outside, neem spray is a safe way to repel fleas, ticks, ants, and mosquitoes.

This week, check neem out for yourself, and be sure to tell someone else about the benefits of exploring some of the natural healing properties that have been around for a long, long time.
