Freedom from Pain

Independence Day in U.S. is celebrated on July 4, giving us the perfect opportunity to evaluate how much we experience freedom from pain. Pain is a very interesting process, and it is best to understand as much about it as possible.

Whether an individual is in pain from a recently sprained ankle or from an ongoingly cantankerous uncle, we only have one central nervous system to do the processing.

Perhaps it is worth mentioning that pain and suffering are not the same. Pain is the actual sensation: burning in the heart, pulling in a muscle, cramping in the gut. Suffering is the emotional component that develops around the story of the circumstances.

On June 4, 2014, an article on the benefits of Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)— “Counselor teaches how to tap away painful emotions”—was published in the South Bend Tribune.

“I was skeptical too,” said Yee, 51, of emotional freedom technique. “But I was feeling a lot of anxiety. It took me a couple of times through before I felt the anxiety lifting, then I started feeling lighter, clearer, calmer and able to breathe easier. The fourth or fifth time through I was actually laughing.”

Since any painful sensation also has an emotional component, most (perhaps all) pain can be lessened (perhaps eliminated) through mind-body techniques. Regular readers may already know about my Freedom from Pain audio, now available at Amazon.com, iTunes, and CD Baby.

Now you have another wonderful way to experience freedom from pain. Your experiencing relief of physical pain (whatever the cause) might include tapping while asking yourself questions such as the following:

If there were an emotion in this pain, what would it be?

What might I be afraid to feel?

If there is a message behind this pain, what might that be?

What might it be like to be free from this pain?

You will know if listening to the Freedom from Pain audio or scheduling a tapping session with me is right for you or someone you know. Call or text (269) 921-2217 or send email to debra@scs-matters.com. This week, experience real independence—freedom from pain (physical and emotional).
