Colon Health

While for years I have known that “Disease Starts and Health Begins in the Colon,” until recently I had not heard of Diatomaceous Earth or bovine colostrum for improved colon health.

Diatomaceous Earth (DE) is a natural organic colon cleanser and detoxifier. The only caution I could find for DE is to be careful not to inhale it (the same advice as when handling baby powder) because it is such a fine powder.

DE is rich in Silica—called the most important trace element in human health—and has been reported to absorb methyl mercury, E. coli, endotoxins, viruses (including poliovirus), organophosphate pesticide residues, and drug residues. (See “Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth – Human Use”)

Before a mother’s milk comes in, for the first few days after giving birth, there is a milky fluid that comes from the breasts of women, cows, and other mammals. This milky substance is rich in antibodies, and loaded with vitamins, minerals. This first milk (colostrums) can contain 100 times higher antibody levels than regular cows milk.

While some athletes use bovine colostrum because it builds muscle, burns fat, and improves performance by increasing stamina, it is also appropriate for healing injuries, killing bacteria and fungus, repairing nervous system damage, and boosting immune function. And it apparently treats inflammation of the colon. (See WebMD: Find A Vitamin or Supplement-Colostrum)

Of course, your eating healthy foods, drinking pure water, getting proper rest, and enjoying regular physical activity are key elements in being healthy. This week make a point to educate yourself about additional possible ways to have a healthy colon. You owe it to yourself to do your own research. Your body will thank you!
