A friend is going through challenges as she and her husband deal with his diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease. Right now, she has some wonderful support, but even as she appreciates the current situation, she anticipates a time in the future when she will be without it.

On Peggy Black’s Morning Message Day 27, she writes:

When you notice you are in a stance or mindset of judging, gently allow your consciousness to float above the contrast of the polarities, until you can see that they are only opposite sides of the same hand. See that they are a part of the same program unfolding.

Go to your heart; hold the conflict—the contrast—there, until the energy of the heart transforms the contrast.

Notice how the ease of having something pleasant automatically introduces the subtle stress of not having it. Everything holds its opposite.

This week, notice if there is stress in your life. If you are facing an ongoing stress, like my friend, it might be helpful to start a stress journal.

Start a Stress Journal
A stress journal can help you identify the regular stressors in your life and the way you deal with them. Each time you feel stressed, keep track of it in your journal. As you keep a daily log, you will begin to see patterns and common themes. Write down:
• What caused your stress (make a guess if you’re unsure)
• How you felt, both physically and emotionally
• How you acted in response
• What you did to make yourself feel better

This week, write away some of your stress. Use your “note” feature on your smart phone, pick up a small notebook, or invest in a journal. Writing stressors down allows them some distance from your body, and provides insight you can benefit from.
